Lots of love; Lots of learning; Lots of fur!”

 That’s how I remember my childhood in upstate New York. Growing up, I dreamed of becoming an actor and a veterinarian. While my love of animals never waned, theatre became my career of choice. I spent more than a decade touring the United States and Europe as an actor and playwright. "The 'gift' of poor health, however, is what bought Jin Shin Jyutsu into my life.

I was almost always ill, responding poorly to traditional western medical procedures and becoming more and more sickly.  My life was forever changed when I was introduced to Jin Shin Jyutsu as a result of a gift certificate for a session with Phyllis Singer.  At the time I had never heard of Jin Shin Jyutsu or of Mary Burmeister. Phyllis gave me the much-needed information that I could heal myself from the state of extreme disease and weakness. She taught me some simple self-help techniques after my first session.

That simple action set me on a life-long learning experience and set me free.  Since that day, I have been blessed to receive sessions from Mary Burmeister, and to study her texts under many of the gifted faculty of Jin Shin Jyutsu, Inc.  I have used this knowledge every day since.

Because self-help Jin Shin Jyutsu became a vital tool in my ongoing recovery, it was only natural to extend the healing of Jin Shin Jyutsu to my beloved traveling companion Amiti, a sickly, aging Collie. The resulting increase in quality, and perhaps quantity of life, was profound.

Like so many whose lives have been transformed through this beautiful Art, I found myself studying and sharing Jin Shin Jyutsu with others. Upon settling in New Orleans, I established a full time practice sharing Jin Shin Jyutsu and self-help with my human clients. It was through my volunteer work with a number of animal rescue organizations and my own emergency work with abandoned and abused pets that I saw the paths of Jin Shin Jyutsu and my childhood dreams merging.

Since then, countless lessons have followed, taught by other Jin Shin Jyutsu teachers, students, clients, and a never ending parade of animals that were sick, neglected or unwanted.  These very different and gifted teachers opened the doors of understanding for me.  The learning that resulted from the overlapping of all these BE-ings and this teaching is the basis for Jin Shin Jyutsu For Your Animal Companion
