May 2003
May has come and gone. I hope this newsletter
finds all of you and your families in good health. As you
all know the most important gift we all have is our health.
Without this precious item, we would not be able to do the
many things we do each and every day.
For my 56th birthday, I took some time off
and my wife Charene and I went to Yosemite National Park.
While we were driving, I heard the following words, which
I would like to share with all of you. "In
everything give thanks."
These four words are extremely powerful
and I would like to share my insights on them with all of
you out there in ether space. As we drove through the mountains
and were blessed to see, hear, smell and feel Mother Nature
in all her splendor all around us, I was reminded of what
those four words meant to me.
First of all you all know I am always preaching
about taking care of your animals and their care givers
in as natural a way as possible. With this thought in mind
I was reminded of what the animals have been trying to teach
this old veterinarian for decades. Appreciate the gifts
you have been given for your eternal journey and do not
take them for granted.
In simple terms, this means when
each and every one of us rises each morning, the first thing
we give thanks for is the breath we just took and to ask
that we be blessed with many more to come. Take a few minutes
before rising to givethanks for all the bodily functions
that serve you each and every day. As I drove through Yosemite
National Park I made sure I gave thanks for the wonderful
aromas of the pines, the visual panoramic experiences of
all of natures glory and the feeling of being in the arms
of Mother Nature and knowing that I am loved.
After feeling "In
everything give thanks," ask your self who
you can help today. If everyone in the world did these two
simple things, each and every day, the paradigm would shift
and we would have a world full of love and caring. This
I feel is what the animals whisperer in our ears 24/7. All
we have to do is listen and apply what they are teaching
us.
As usual when I see a trail, I
just have to see what is at the end of it, no matter where
it might take me. I told Charene I would be back in an hour
because I was only going to go part way up the mountain
and turn around. As Charene knew, she better get her
book out and relax because my idea of an hour is not always
the same as what is ticking away on one's wrist.
I started climbing up the opposite
side of the canyon floor from Yosemite Falls and was in
awe of the majesty of the valley. The falls had more water
in them than they had in many decades. The sound was that
of thunder as the cold water of the winter snow melted and
dropped thousands of feet to the bottom of the falls. The
warmth of the sun on my back, the smell of the pines and
the fresh air in my lungs made it very clear to me I was
in Heaven.
With each step I reflected
on how lucky I was to be able to climb this mountain, smell
this delicious air, breath deep into my lungs the fresh
air and feel my whole body propel me up the steep mountain
face. At each turn I kept thinking I should take a picture,
only to find a more beautiful experience with the next bend
in the trail. I lost track of time and felt that I had to
continue ever higher in my quest to "In everything
give thanks."
After climbing 2500 feet
up the side of the canyon wall, I stopped and stood on the
edge of the cliff and closed my eyes. I felt as if I were
an Eagle flying high above the valley, free and aware of
all my senses. I gave thanks for all the blessing I was
gifted with and said a silent prayer for all my animal and
human fellow time travelers that they all be safe and know
they are loved.
When I opened my eyes the view
was even more spectacular than before I closed them. A fellow
hiker came by at that moment and I asked him to take a picture
of me leaning out over the canyon with Yosemite Falls as
my background. As I climbed out to the point on the cliff
where I wanted the photo taken, a bird soared right past
me and I swear he winked at me. The feeling I got at that
moment was, " Keep up the good work, you are getting
there." He was there and then he was gone but the view
was spectacular.
As I leaned out over the edge,
a clap of thunder came from the falls and at that moment
the flash went off and the moment was capture on film. This
picture will be in my next newsletter for all to share the
moment that I just described to you all.
At this point I am sure you
are all asking "What does this have to do with natural
health care for my animal buddies?" First of all the
message that I have shared with you is the foundation for
all health. That message is being at peace with yourself
and listening to the animals. They want us to take care
of our selves and that is why they are here to teach us
how to do that. What I have told all my animal friends,
is that I am trying my best and to be patient with
me because after all I am only a human being ;O)
With that lets talk about
what there is out there for all of us to use and share with
others on staying healthier. First of all a few simple observations
I made on my trip. First of all we ran into our old friends
the mosquitos and other bug buddies. They were a bit hungry
and since I am anti pesticides namely N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide
(DEET) The
consequences of DEET toxicity are variable and unpredictable
I resorted to my favorite combination of essential oils.
The mixture I have found to be the most effective are Lemon,
Lemongrass and Eucalyptus essential oils. Young
Living Essential Oils -Independent Distributorship
I add one drop of each oil to one ounce of water (3/4 spring
water 1/4 vodka) This mixture will keep for a long
period of time. Make sure you do not spray this in your
eyes. As soon as we applied this mixture, no more mosquito
bites ;O) I have also used this mixture on dogs and horses.
Cats are not to happy with this idea and normally they are
too smart to let a mosquito bite them :O)
As I was climbing I managed
to scrape my knees pretty good. This is example of the mind
feeling younger than the body. I had lavender essential
oil with me and immediately applied it to the wounds. Upon
application I had no pain and they went on to heal in record
time. As you all know Lavender is the best product on the
planet for burns of any kind. I apply it full strength to
any wound and find it to be an excellent healing agent.
Calendula Merritt
Naturals- Dog And Cat Vitamins, Animal Nutrition, Herbal
Pet Supplement is an excellent herbal tincture to use on
any open wounds and will promote primary healing and reduce
scaring as does Lavender essential oil. Calendula can also
be taken internally as a homeopathic remedy at a dose of
6C twice per day until the wound is completely healed.
My enthusiasm for climbing
and running back down 3 miles of paths and 2500 foot elevation
drop resulted in some very sore quadriceps muscles :O(..
My brain thought I was younger than my body ;O)
The muscles were sore to
the touch and better with warm applications. These are two
good rubrics for indicating homeopathic Arnica in any animal.
I recommend Arnica 30C one pellet twice per day until there
is marked improvement and then back off and repeat only
as needed. This will speed up your healing time by 50% or
more. I have also used this prophylacticlly before exercise
and found it to also be helpful in preventing sore muscles.
I recommend one Arnica 30C one hour before work outs of
any kind.
While on the trip I came across
an article on West Nile vaccines and equine abortion secondary
to the West Nile vaccine. The United States Department of
Agriculture has had an increase in aborted and deformed
foals post Fort Dodge West Nile vaccinations reported
to them since the vaccine has come on the market. To read
more about these finding go to Thoroughbred
Times: Today's News and learn what you an about the
potential danger of the use of the this vaccination.
Since we are on one of my favorite topics,
namely vaccinations here is some heavy information for those
of you who like dig deeper into the conspiracy theories
of why "Flat Earth Medicine prevails in this country."
Go to The
CIA and the West Nile Virus and read what Leonard G.
Horowitz, D.M.D., M.A, M.P.H. had uncovered in his investigative
reporting on the topic of vaccinations and the West Nile
Virus.
While on my hike I met a fellow
hiker who joined me. I told him I was there to celebrate
my 56th birthday and that I was the proud grandfather of
5 beautiful grandchildren. He stopped and looked at me and
said "You look way to young to be 56 and to have 5
grandchildren!" I thanked him for the kind words and
told him I believe you are only as old as you feel. He gave
me questioning look and then asked me what I did to stay
so young.
I told him that first of all I have all
my ancestors before me to thank for a strong constitution
and for not abusing my body too much along my 56 year path.
I told him I have never been healthier since taking bovine
colostrum, Wolfberry juice, using essential fatty acids,
using essential oils, no alcohol and trying to be as happy
about life as I can be The Pet Whisperer tm and
When I told him what I did for a vocation he was fascinated
with the idea of communicating with animals and asked me
how I knew that it was possible?
I told him that decades ago I noticed
that when I would think about getting out a cat carrier,
my cats would disappear. If I thought about bathing them,
they evaporated into thin air. These were my early experiences
and then I met Beatrice Leydecker 25 years ago and she taught
me the rudimental aspects of animal communications. From
there I met Samantha Khurry, Sue Goodrich, Penelope Smith,
Sue Gurrney, Gina Palmer and many other wonderful animal
communicators who enlightened me further. Animal Consultations,
Animal Communication, Animal Communicator.
All of the communicators had a
common thread of information about animal communications.
That was the fact they communicated in pictures. They taught
me that our thoughts are in picture form some where in our
brains at all times. This can be very helpful in helping
our animals stay healthier.
First of all, just the fact that
they know you are aware of this mode of communications is
a very positive force in their sense of well being. Just
think of it as if you were the cat, dog, horse or bird.
All of a sudden the person who loves you the most realizes
you can talk to each other after all these years. It is
like the teacher whose student finally gets the lesson and
the light goes on and the teacher realizes all of his or
her hard work has not been for not. What do you do with
this new found discovery?
Going on vacations?
Since this is summer time and many
of you will be going on holiday and your animal friends
will be staying home to protect the homestead, you need
to apply your new found animal communications skills.
The first thing I teach my clients
is to work on the time thing with animals. Just in case
you haven't noticed, they do not ware a watch :O) Telling
them you will be back soon or any time frame means absolutely
nothing to them.
When you are leaving them
any time, just visualize the position of the sun or moon
when you will be returning and think of your self walking
back into the house when the sun or moon is in the correct
position for your return. I always make it later so you
are always early :O) If it is more than one day, repeat
the process for each day and if it is weeks use the fullness
of the moon as your reference point for your return. Make
sure you have eye contact and that you have no distractions
when telling them. I usually convey this when they notice
you are getting ready to leave.
You magnify the effect of the communication
by using Bach Flowers Flower
Essence Society: research, education, networking for mind-body
health (when you contact them, tell them Dr. Blake
recommended them and ask them if they can help you order
what ever flowers you need) and Aromatherapy. Make a mixture
of 2 drop of each of the following Bach Flowers; Walnut,
Gentian, Star of Bethlehem, Wild Rose and Red Chestnut.
Have your caregiver put four drops of this mixture in fresh
drinking water each day. If they seem sad, have them give
the mixture at a dose of 4 drops every hour until they are
back to old self and then as needed. Usually after one to
three doses they are good to go ;O)
The above mixture is also good for Mom, Dad and the kids
to help them deal with being away from their animal buddies.
For two legged versions, I recommend you put four drops
of the mixture in you bottled water each day and sip on
it if you are having worried feelings about your pets back
home. As for an Essential oil blend, I recommend Release
essential oil blend Young Living Essential Oils -Independent
Distributorship . I diffuse this in the house before
and while you are away. With dogs you can massage this down
their backs daily or as needed to release the fear and uncertainty
of your return. As for cats, they prefer diffusing as to
topical. I will massage a few drops into their beds or around
way they eat and eliminate daily if they seem down.
I want to thank all of my friends
around the world that have been praying for my Mom's
recovery. My sister Laura, Brother John and I appreciate
your caring prayers and kind words. Here is a gift I received
in my mail box last month that I would like to pay forward
to all my Pet Whisperer TM listeners around the world. All
I ask is that you pay it forward and keep Love rippling
around this beautiful Mother Earth.
This is a beautiful site with kindness for
animals as their theme.
moment
Thank you for listening and as always all I
ask in return is to pay it forward to at least three more
caring people.
