Six years ago I was walking down the street in Skagway, Alaska when I heard a musical instrument singing to me from afar. I followed its voice and walked into a small shop where it was originating from. Before me sat a man of small size playing a flute. I inquired into what kind of flute was he playing. His reply was a Native American Flute he had made. I asked him if he would sell the flute to me and his response was YES.
Here began an amazing journey into finding my roots. I have always been a member of the Native American Want To Be Tribe of Indians of North America. I am to the ONLY member because it a made up tribe I came up with 65 years ago as a small child. I told my parents I Want To Be and Indian. Hence the Want To Be Tribe of North America.
Ever since I was a small child, I have always been drawn to Native America Culture, History and Spiritual Belief System. I am a bare footer, with a Native American Flute on my back, Chia seeds in my pockets, no water and running with the breath of Angel’s Wing Behind the wind as my running companion.
I fell in love with the flute from day ONE. I had a little trouble getting started but lucky me I sought the advise of a REAL Indian to help me find my path with my new friend the flute. I took it to the Barona Pow Wow as soon as I returned home from Alaska and met an Indian named Nash. He asked me what the flute maker told me about the flute. I told him he instructed me to read the book, listen to the CD and learn how to play from these two items. Nash smiled and said to me, ” Do you want to know Indian Way? ” My answer was YES. He then gave me the secrete to being ONE with the flute. Drum Roll please. “Burn Book and CD!” and “Play from your HEART!”
He then told me to let ONE his flutes choose me for their NEW home. I looked at the 30 + flutes he had created and ONE spoke to me. A Red Cedar Flute smiled back at me and I picked her up. In my hands I could feel her voice waiting to meet with my breath. He then told me to step behind the tarp behind his booth and just play. Instantly the flute came to life and we soared together on wind and have never landed since.
For the past six years I have been blessed to travel the world, and my flute is always with me no matter where I travel. I had a dream that ONE day I would find someone to record some of my music to share with others and finally she came my way. Maegan Faith Widdes, a friend, professional drummer and musician.
The six songs are about Freedom called Freedom , Happiness called Happy Willow, Love called Maegan with Love, Stillness called Mountain Stillness, Peace called Peace Tribe,
& Fun called River Fun.
I have made it as a download as a MP3 ONLY or a full download of Video and Audio.
Below is the Intro Video taking to the start of my journey of sharing my music with all that want to listen.
More to come.
Thank you for listening and sharing my love of the flute. I find it a great way to meditate or relax during my busy life of serving all creatures great and small.
