The Ultimate Antiseptics-12 essential oils that wipe out Disease- Causing Bacteria, Molds, and Viruses

The following article was written by me for the 2002 American Holistic Veterinary Association conference, at which I presented a paper on the use of Essential oils in animals. After reading my paper, there is information on essential oils and how I use them in my practice.

Aromatherapy
Stephen R. Blake, DVM

Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts dating back before 2780 B.C have documented the history of Aromatherapy. Their uses medicinally are recorded by many cultures around the world and in the past two decades have been studied in great depth as to how the chemical components of the oils, specially influence the human body. Dr. Radwan Farag, Ph.D. the head of the biochemistry department of Cairo University documented the oxygenating molecular activity, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of essential oils.

The phrase Aromatherapy came from a French cosmetic chemist, Rene`-Maurice Gattefosse`, Ph.D., in 1920. He was working in his laboratory and received 3rd degree burns on his hand and forearm. He looked for something to stop the pain and emerged his arm in a container he thought was full of cold water. Within a few minutes all of the pain stopped. His colleague then informed him that the container was full of pure lavender oil. With the continued application of lavender oil, the burn healed perfectly with no scaring. Since he was a chemist he analyzed the essential oil lavender and found it to contain chemical properties, which had healing properties. The oils contain trace elements, hormones, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals and have antifungal, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antiseptic and immune stimulating properties.

What are essential oils? The semi-oily resins of flowers, trees, shrubs, herbs, bushes, roots, seeds, leaves, stems and flowering petals are the essential oils used in Aromatherapy. There are from 200 to 800 different chemical constituents with single oil. Because of this fact, no two oils are alike in the way they effect the body or the way the body responds to them. The common constituents are aldehydes (anti-infection, sedative and calming to the nervous system)), Eugenol (antiseptic and stimulating), Ketones (liquefy mucous and excellent for burns by stimulating cell regrowth, asthma, colds), Phenols (antiseptic and bactericidal and viricidal), Sesquiterpenes (anti-inflammatory, liver and gland support, and cross the blood brain barrier) and terpene alcohols (antibacterial, diuretics and decongestants).

These are but a few of the many natural occurring chemicals present in each of the essential oils and for that reason their applications are unlimited. The basic properties of all essential oils are that they are antioxidants (help increase oxygen to the cells), they are detoxifying (natural chelator) and they are antimicrobial
How are they extracted? The two most important aspects to selecting essential oils are the source, which should be organic if at all possible and extraction by low-pressure steam distillation. Make sure of the source of your oils before using them. Due to the abilities of the oils to penetrate the skin, you want to make sure they are not adulterated (expanded with synthetic chemicals or contain petrochemicals which may be harmful the patient). At this time there are over 200 different types of essential oils being distilled and aromatic molecules being recorded and studied. The low pressure (zero pressure is ideal) is essential because heat destroys the bioactivity of the oils. It may smell like Lavender but have no bioactivity and give no results as a therapeutic modality.

The oils can be utilized topically, orally or by inhalation. The oils have the ability to penetrate the skin and enter the blood stream in minutes after application. In Europe, thousands of medical doctors prescribe the oils for oral consumption for many disease processes. The FDA here has not approved this method in the United States. Inhalation therapy will give results within 1 to 3 seconds. This is due to the fact that the olfactory membrane contains 800 million nerve endings, which form a pathway to the olfactory bulb. From there are passes between the pituitary and pineal glands, and then on to the amygdala, which is the memory center for fear and trauma. Since this area of the brain has 100,000 times more information than sight, touch and taste combined, it is no wonder it has such a profound effect on the emotions of the body.

How do you use the oils? Over the past five years I have found that in the canine you can apply them directly on the pads of the feet and massage them one to two times per day, inside the ears and down the spine. I usually use the oils in an expanded form. Expanding the oils dilutes them and is more economical when using oils over a long period of time. You mix 30 drops of the selected oil in one ounce of cold pressed Almond oil. I normally place one drop of the oil on each pad. My thoughts are that the ting points are at ends of the extremities and by massaging into the pads I am getting these plus the reflexology points all in one. The oils are absorbed through the skin and into the blood within minutes. They also get the aroma effect because they are breathing the oils as the oils evaporate. The feline prefers not to have the oils applied on their skin directly, so I use a diffuser or put it on their bedding or place mat where they eat from. Horses do well with applications to the ears and spine. Birds I mist their cages with the oils mixed in water and sprits their cage with the oils. I mix one drop per ounce of water and mist twice per day.
The main oils I have used over the past five years are Lavender (burns, wounds and calming), Frankincense (antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antitumoral, prevents scaring and is antidepressant), Myrrh (anti-infectious, supportive of immune system, hyperthyroidism, eczema, respiratory disease), Purification (blend of oils good for detoxing patient and environment), Valor (Blend of oils referred to as the chiropractor in a bottle, helps the body, mind and spirit stay in alignment), Lemongrass (repair of ligaments and joints), Helichrysum (reduces pain, regenerates tissue especially nerve), and many others.

The following oils should not be applied directly on the skin unless they are expanded;
Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Lemongrass, Oregano and Thyme. All of these oils are best used mixed with almond oil and you should start with a weak dilution, to make sure it is not irritating to the patient’s skin.

In my general practice, I diffuse Frankincense in my exam room and give the patient a light massage with the oil on my hands. Both cats, dogs and horses are very conformable with this application. You only place a few drops in your hands, rub them together and then lightly massage the animal for a few seconds. This procedure calms both the caregiver and the patient. It is also antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. This reduces the chance of my next patient being exposed to any contagious etiologies. I use this same oil directly on the gums of dogs and some cats who have severe gum disease. The effect is dramatic and most dogs are very conformable with doing this. Cats on the other hand are not as convinced.

When I have a possible cruciate or joint injury, I have the owner massage a dilution of 1-drop Lemongrass to one tsp of almond oil twice per day into the area. You use a very small amount of the oil. Lavender is an excellent oil to use on burns, eczema, insect bites, wounds or areas where there is excess itching. You can use it straight or expanded depending on the animal’s response to the oil.

I have used a blend of Spruce, Frankincense, Rosewood and Blue Tansy (Valor) as the chiropractor in a bottle for my musculoskeletal cases. I have the caregiver apply on drop of the blend to each of the pads of all four feet and massage it into the feet. I have them do this on couch or table and then immediately after the massage is done, put them on the floor. They will shake off and in doing so, self adjust themselves. If they do not shake from head to tail, I have them repeat the procedure until they do. The oils help to align the body and mind. I also feel that since the massage and the oils are stimulating all of the acupuncture meridians, which are being absorbed into the ting points. This combination of massage, essential oils, self adjusting and ting point stimulation, results in fewer acupuncture or chiropractic treatments because of the proactive part the caregiver plays in maintaining the healing process. I have them do this one to four times per day depending on the response of the patient to each treatment. Once they are stable, I reduce the frequency of treatments to match the progress of the case.

Tips..................

I use Valor and Panaway as instructed below twice daily for any forms of musculoskeletal conditions and for prevention. Make sure they shake off completely after each treatment. I apply Valor (Essential oil blend) at a dose of one drop to the each of the pads of the foot closest to the pain.If it is pain in the rear of your pet I recommend both rear feet be treated twice per day. If it is a problem from the shoulders forward, I recommend both front feet be treated twice daily. I also recommend massaging a few drops down the spine. You should do this while they are up on a table or couch. Once you have finished you massage, put them down immediately and they should shake off vigorously. If they do not repeat the process until they do. This is their way of self-adjusting. If they stop part way, they are telling you where the pain is coming from. At his point I massage in Panaway in the same manner as you do with the Valor and repeat the process once or twice per day until they are free of pain and then repeat only as needed. The Valor is good to do once or twice per week as a tune up for prevention.

Essential oils for Gardens

For plants infested with insects, use one of the following essential oils. Fill a mist spray bottle with 4 oz. of water, add the essential oils and mist the infested plant. Use as little as possible. Several applications, a few days apart, may be necessary.

Spearmint (#3638): ants, aphids, caterpillars, black flea beetle, gnats, lice, moths, and plant lice.
Peppermint (#3614): ants, aphids, bean beetle, cabbage root fly, caterpillars, black flee beetle, flies, lice, moths, and plant lice. Lemongrass (#3581): black flea beetle, fleas, mosquitoes, and ticks.
Tansy (#3656): black fly, carrot fly, fleas, flies, greenfly, mosquitoes, and white fly.
Hyssop (#3566): aphids, cabbage root fly, moths, and slugs.
Thyme (#3650): bean beetle, cabbage root fly, cutworm, and ticks.
Sage (#3632: cabbage root fly, cutworm, nematodes, ticks, and white fly.
Rosemary (#3626): cabbage root fly and carrot fly.
Patchouly (#3608): gnats, snails, weevils, and woolly aphids.
Pine (#3618): slugs, snails, and woolly aphids.
Sandalwood (#3635) weevils and woolly aphids. Our all around favorite is Young Living's Blend of Purification....we always have it with us.
Purification (#3399): will not only help keep the bugs away, but when applied to a bite or sting, will neutralize the venom. We have applied a drop of Purification to wasp, bee, and yellow jacket stings and felt the pain go away immediately and the swelling subside. The next day, there were no traces of a sting. It works well for mosquito bites too. Testimonial and other uses of oils for head lice, fleas, insect repellent, insect bites, spider bites and fungus.

Place one teaspoon of wintergreen essential oil - the same kind that you use in vaporizers for colds - and to a quart of hot water in a mist sprayer.   Then mist carpets, upholstered furniture, pillows and anything where flea eggs can hatch.
The mist will not kill fleas but it will the eggs.  Spray about 3 times a year.  The odor goes away in a few days and you are safe for months without danger of pesticides.  Since oil of wintergreen is used on babies, I do not believe it can hurt cats or dogs. You don't spray the animal,   just their environment.

I have found the following blend excellent for repelling mosquitoes; 1 drop Lemon 1 drop Lemongrass 1 drop R.C. (Eucalyptus blend) per ounce of water and spray on skin and clothing when around mosquitoes. Insect Sprays and bites   Here are some recipes that I have used and have been very successful
for me and I wanted to share this with everyone now that summer is upon us..
For the house and garden insect spray.
  3 drops spearmint
  3 drops orange
  2 qt. water

Mix and spray on plants in the house and outside and in greenhouse to keep
the bugs and aphids away.  Also diffuse in the greenhouse.  And for those
that use a swamp cooler put lemon in, to keep the fungus at bay.  That way
you don't have to use chemicals.

One thing that I have found that really works great on ants of any kind is
peppermint.  I had these ants that kept coming into the house and my little
granddaughter would pick them up between her fingers and try to eat them.
So I put peppermint clear across the door seal and as I was doing this here
came an ant on high, just as he got close to where I put the peppermint he
reared up on his hind legs and his antennas were waving back and forth and
he pivoted and went the other direction.  Needless to say I didn't have to
worry about Kimberlee eating ants in the house.

Always remember to use purification on any insect bite especially poisonous
insect bites to neutralize the poison.  Here is a list of essential oils
  you can use on bites.

1 drop thyme                 Or                       1drop lavender
  10 drops lavender                                    1drop birch
  4 drops eucalyptus
  3 drops roman chamomile
  1 Tbs V-6

  Insect repellent

Peppermint has been great for me.  I just rub it all over my head and my
arms and legs and they never light on me.  Purification and the Idaho tansy
oil  is good, plus the Sunsation suntan oil is great.

  Brown Recluse Spider Bite
  1 drop lavender
  1 drop helichrysum
  1 drop melrose
apply neet to bite then add to an oatmeal poultice 5 drops each to draw out
the poison.  After the poultice than apply purification

  Black Widow Spider
10 drops lavender right after the bite and then 1 drop every two to three
minutes until you get to the doctor.  Also again apply purification in
  between the lavender.

  Cockroaches
  10 drops peppermint
  5 drops cypress
1/2    cup water and spray where they run and live

  Head Lice
  2 drops eucalyptus
  1 drop lavender
  1 drop geranium
  1 tsp V-6
mix and massage into scalp and leave for 1/2 hour then shampoo with Lavender
shampoo and rinse well.  Next apply
  2 drops eucalyptus
  2 drops lavender
  2 drops geranium
  1/2 oz. apple cider vinegar
  8 oz water
This is an antiseptic rinse.  Pour over the head making sure every hair is
rinsed.  Let dry naturally and repeat daily until lice and eggs are gone.
My friends little girl had head lice and had three spots the size of a
quarter on her head where there wasn't any hair because of the lice and the
medication the doctor had her on.  After using the above recipe the lice are
all gone and her hair has grown back

Make your oils last longer

You can make your oils last longer by placing a few drops of water in your hands and mixing the a few drops of what ever oil you are using and then make your application. This will expand you oils and they will last longer. I also recommend you make up a therapy bottle instead of using the oils straight from the supply bottle. You mix 30 drops of the single oil or blend in a one ounce glass dropper bottle, add 1/3 vodka and 2/3 spring water. This will make an emulsion, which you will need to shake each time and apply as instructed above. You and your pet will benefit from the experience because you are sharing both the oils and the experience of massage.

Here is a testimonial from Karen VanSchenck about her experiences with Young Living Essential oils that I have found to be very helpful for others.

Breath spray - in a 1.5 oz spray bottle - I use an empty from the Thieves spray - I fill the bottle about 3/4 full and add 10 to 20 drops of peppermint oil. What a wonderful taste and it really freshens your breath. It also worked for my scratchy throat. When the scratchy, tickly start, just a couple spritzes and all better. This is better than any of those strips and stuff I used to get at the store. What a great way to freshen your breath before a meeting, appointment or work. No alcohol or harsh chemicals.

Insects repeller for your garden - in a standard size spray bottle, fill almost full of water and then add enough Thieves cleaner to color the water. You will know you put enough Thieves cleaner in the bottle when the insects scatter when you spray your vege's and such. I grow tomatoes - in Florida - and no worms and no aphids and the grasshoppers leave too. This spray also works on rose bushes and squash plants. Then wipe down your kitchen counter tops with the same spray.

Freshen the air - We all know how important it is to change the air conditioning filter in our homes every month. I use this opportunity to put a few drops of Lemon oil and Purification on the new filter. This freshens the air in my home and I know it must get rid of germs and such because my son hasn't used an inhaler in years. No more sinus problems either. I use a YLEO diffuser at home and run oils like R.C., Pine, Christmas Spirit, Lemon, Thieves, etc. Eucalyptus Radiata and Pine is a very nice combination of scents and it's good for the respiratory system. I have noticed a huge difference in myself since I have been using a diffuser at home. No more sinus problems or allergy difficulties. I have had allergy problems all my life and what a relief to not have that problem anymore.

Freshen your car - I use many different oils in my car. Using a vent diffuser - available at www.detailsbykaren.com - I freshen the air in my car while the A/C is on and it keeps working all day so my car still smells great when I get out of work - even in the heat. En-R-Gee is a good way to start your day, or Lemon, Orange, Peace & Calming, the list goes on.

Sore elbows - I use PanAway for this. I have mild tendonitis in both elbows and when it acts up I use PanAway and the pain is gone.

Scars - I was unfortunate enough to have a silver dollar sized melanoma on my face between my nose and left ear. I had no idea that little brown spot was something so horrible. After the first surgery -I had 3 in all - was complete, I had a 3" scar on my face. Enter Lavender oil. I rubbed Lavender on my scar several times a day and the wound was healing nicely. The next surgery left me with an open wound that had to heal together. I used Lavender directly into the wound and around the area. A few weeks later the Doctor made mention of how nicely the wound was healing. I told him about the Lavender oil and he said to keep doing what I was doing. The third and final surgery left that 3" scar very noticeable. I continued to use the Lavender oil several times a day and most people don't even notice it, so they say.

I have been faithfully using the ART system from Young Living in conjunction with the Satin Facial scrub for the last 6 months and I must say there is a remarkable difference in both my skin and my scar. The indentation of the scar seems to have subsided and is not so noticeable even to me and my skin is very soft and smooth. And the best part of all, no wrinkles and I am 49 years young and have lived in The Florida sun all my life.

As you can see, I love these wonderful essential oils and I have fun trying new ways to use them. Be your own explorer and discover the wonderful healing qualities of essential oils.

Permission is granted for you to use these testimonials and share them with whomever you like.

Stop poisoning yourself and your loved ones: clean up your act!

First:
Poisons and toxins (such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, DEA, excessive Fluoride, etc.) are hidden in the products you use daily, such as soap, shampoo, rinse, toothpaste, mouthwash, skin cleansers and moisturizers, etc. These toxins most negatively affect those who are old, infirm, or very young. Mothers may be harming their babies or impairing their development with these products, without knowing that they are doing so.
First:
Eliminate products with poisons, and replace them with ones that enhance health: Young Living Bar Soaps, AromaSilk Hair, & AromaSilk Skin products, KidScents personal care for children, Dentarome Toothpaste (or Dentarome Plus), Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash, Bath and Shower Gels
. All are free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, DEA and other noxious chemicals typically found in common brands, even "healthy" ones. All contain essential oils and nutrients that enhance immunity and support the skin, hair, gums, and teeth.
Second:
The air we breathe in our homes, our cars, and our offices, is typically polluted by chemicals used in the manufacture of wall paneling, furniture, upholstery, even clothing--not to mention the cleaning products, disinfectants, "air fresheners," and perfumes that are loaded with synthetic chemicals that can be literally sickening Is it just one whiff that makes you sick? No. For most people, it's the repeated exposure, day in day out, wherever you go, whether traveling to distant places or to a restaurant downtown.
Second:
Fill the air in all your environments with essential oils that kill mold and bacteria, and which combine with airborne petro-chemicals to take them out of the air. A single diffuser can purify the air in several rooms. You may want to have more than one for home, office and car. Put essential oils in spray bottles with water and use them as disinfectant in your kitchen, bathroom, and nursery. Carry an atomizer to use on planes, trains, and in public places. Use essential oils in place of air freshener and perfume
.
Third:
Perhaps the most insidious route by which toxins enter our lives is the candy, soda pop, gum, snack foods and beverages that abound, and just seem like "fun" things to eat and drink, with no harm done. The impact of aspartame (sugar substitute) alone is becoming a major health concern, with thousands suffering neurologic symptoms and other health problems as a result of ingesting it.
Third:
Replace the junk with snacks that give you concentrated nutritional value, like Essential Manna and the incredible NingXia Red! Sweeten everything else with Young Living Stevia and add flavor to filtered water using pure, therapeutic grade essential oils of lemon, tangerine, peppermint
, and... What a treat!
Fourth:
The accumulation of toxins in the body may lead to chronic symptoms, such as constipation, fatigue, irritability, brain fog, moodiness, organ dysfunction, immune collapse and disease.
Fourth:
Cleanse your digestive system and see how many symptoms disappear! --how much increased energy you experience. Use the Cleansing Trio, Mineral Essence, and lots of water every day. When you have regular "moving" days, add JuvaTone and JuvaFlex
to support and enhance liver function, possibly the most important organ in your body for detoxification.

Have you had your NingXia Red today?

NingXia Red:

Wolfberries, eliminate the free radicals that causes DNA damage.  Free
radicals can damage both fats and proteins in the body.  Fats are essential
structural components of the cell membranes, especially in the cells of the
eyes, liver, and brain.  Proteins are the building block of the heart muscle
and cellular DNA, the command-and-control center for cellular regeneration.
If the DNA becomes damaged, the cell losses control, mutates,  and either
self-destructs or grows out of control.

Also levels of long-chain polyunsaturated fats (ie., and DHA and EPA), are
crucial building blocks of the brain, eyes, heart, and other organs.  DHA
occurs in unusually height  concentrations in the cerebralcortex---the most
advanced structure of the brain where logic and reasoning take place.

In 20-year-olds, levels of DHA are very high.  But as their DHA becomes
oxidized due to free radical attacks with advancing age, their cognitive powers
dimish, hormone levels  decline and immunity falters.

The body uses a battery of enzymes and antioxidants to maintain levels of
DHA because it is so essential for the function of vital organs.  But eventually
so much DHA becomes oxidized or damaged that it surpasses the ability of the
body to repair and replace it.  By the time a person reaches age 70, DHA levels
in the brain, eyes and heart are less than half those of a 20-year old's.  This
contributes to impaired vision, memory loss, dementia, arteriosclerosis and
eventually death.

Ningxia Wolfberry research:

There are 3 ways that wolfberry can protect against cancer and premature
aging:

1.  Protects cells from DNA damage and mutations.  As the highest know
antioxidant food, the Ningxia wolfberry protects cellular DNA against mutations for ROS-reactive oxygen species (free radicals).  Over a dozen studies have documented the wolfberry's clinical role in treating cancer.

It is believed that free radical caused, oxidative damage may be responsible
for the steady mental decline in person with Down's syndrome.

Researchers are beginning to link the mental deterioration in Downs Syndrome with accelerated neuron death caused by free radicals.  Akira Sawa, PhD, a scientist at Johns Hopkins, suggests that as reactive oxygen species attack the brain, neurons are forced to die off prematurely (known as  accelerated apoptosis).  As the cells are destroyed faster than the body's ability to replace them, the brain suffers worsening dementia, memory loss and eventually death.

Because there are Blueberries in the NingXia Red they help protect the brain also.

As one of the highest known antioxidant foods, blueberries are blessed with
a unique profile of polyphenols that can protect the body from oxidative damage
caused by aging and inflammation.  The polyphenols found in blueberries
are very different from those that occur in the Ningxia wolfberry and
operate on a very different mechanism.  Studies found at Tufts University show
that blueberries protect the brain, heart,  and liver against the oxidative damage that
occurs with age.

Studies show that increasing dietary intake of fruits and vegetables, can
retard and even reverse age-related declines in brain function and in cognitive and
motor performance in rats.

Dr. Galli referred to the brain-protecting aspects of fruit extracts. "Dietary supplementation
with fruit or vegetable extracts high in antioxidants (e.g., blueberry)," can decrease this
vulnerability to oxidative stress by reduction in neuronal signaling and behavioral deficits."

1.  Strawberry and blueberry extracts also markedly increase brain levels of
glutathione, a key sulfhydryl antioxidant that protects neurons from free radical attack and
oxidative damage.

Dr. Bickfored concluded that "nutritional source of antioxidants are important for improving
learning and memoryin aged animals and possibly in humans as well."

2. A second study by USDA showed after subjecting the animals to a battery of tests including
rod walking, wire suspension, plank suspension, inclined screen, accelerating rotarod and the
Morris water maze,  Dr. Joseph found that the blueberry-supplemented animals far outperformed
the control group.  The animals displayed a noticeable improvement in both physical abilities and
cognitive function.  During the rotarod and rod-walking tests, the blueberry-fed animals resisted
falling over 50% better than the control group.

3.  Dr. Joseph conducted a third study that validated the potent antioxidant and brain-protecting
ability of strawberry and blueberry extracts.  He exposed laboratory animals to an atmosphere of
100% oxygen, which can accelerate neuron death in the brain and can mimic the cognitive declines
that occur  naturally with aging.  Animals treated with fruit extracts exhibited far better cognitive function
than unsupplemented controls following 48 hours of exposure  to pure oxygen.

Ningia wolberry puree:
1.  Highest antioxidant food
2.  Rich in immune-stimulating polysaccharides
3.  High in ellagic acid, which prevents DNA mutation

Blueberry juice:

1  One of the riches foods in proanthocyanidins.
2.  Tufts University studies show that it protects against brain aging.
3.  University of Mainz studies show that it protects cell DNA.

Pomegranate Juice:

1  Has 3 times the antioxidant activity as green tea
2.  Just two ounces reduces oxidized cholesterol by 40%.
3.  Powerful circulatory and cardiovascular protectant.

Raspberry Juice:

1.  High in quercetin and other antioxidants.
2.  Has one of the highest levels of ellagic acid.

Lemon and Orange Essential Oils

1  High in limonene which combats cell mutation

Agave Nectar:
1.  A natural cactus juice from the Agave Tequila
2.  Has glycemic index of 11, the lowest of any sweetener..

Ningxia Wolfberry: In the mid 1980's when biochemists at the
Ningxia Institute of Nutrition analyzed the Ningxia wolfberry
(which is called Goji Berry by Native Chinese and Lycium
Barbarun L by botanists), they found that it was virtual vitamin
capsule in the form of a fruit.  Over 15% protein by weight, the
wolfberry contains over 21 essential minerals, 18 amino acids,
and substantial amounts of chromium.  Levels of vitamins such
as thiamin (vitamin B)niacin (vitamin B3), and vitamin C were
extraordinarily high.

To confirm these results, we commissioned an independent lab
in the United States to run another analysis:   The results showed that:

Ningxia Wolfberry Nutrient Summary:
67 times the thiamin (vitamin B1) of brown rice
2 times the niacin (vitamin B3) of baker's yeast
3 times the vitamin C of raw oranges
5 times the calcium of raw cauliflower
2 times the beta carotene of raw spinach

Highest Known Source in Vitamins B1 and B3:
The Ningxia wolfberry is richest known whole food
source of natural vitamin B1 or thiamin.  Thiamin is
essential for proper energy production, carbohydrate
metabolism, and thyroid function.  Thiamin deficiencies
can result in impaired carbohydrate burning and a
decline in the energy hormone thyrotropin.  The wolf-
berry also has 100 times the niacin (vitamin B3 as oat bran.
Over two decades of research document the ability of niacin
to support the heart.

Minerals: Key to long Life
Minerals truly are the "Cinderella's" of the nutrition world
because vitamins cannot be utilized by the body nor be
assimilated without the aid of minerals.  Moreover, the
human body cannot manufacture a single mineral (unlike
vitamins, some of which the body can manufacture on its own).

Minerals perform a countless pivotal functions in the human
body.  Not only are they crucial to the electrolyte balance of
our cells, which forms the foundation of health, but they also
play essential roles in nerve conductions, muscle contraction,
heart action, blood clotting, protein metabolism, bone and
teeth formation, and enzyme activation.  Every process of
the body is dependent on minerals.

Minerals also constitute central components of some of the
most powerful antioxidant compounds in the human body.
The mineral Zinc is instrumental in the formation of superoxide
dimutase (SOD), a key enzymatic antioxidant that declines
with age.  SOD is responsible for deactivating the most
prevalent and dangerous free radical in the body; superoxide.

Calcium--Important for building bones; shown to help
reduce body fat and lower the risk of some cancers.

Chromium (trivalent)--part of the Glucose Tolerance Factor,
it enhances insulin sensitivity and makes it easier for glucose
 to enter the cell

Magnesium--Reduces the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular
disease; treats depression and headaches.

Potassium--Lowers blood pressure and is associated with
improved longevity.

Copper, Zinc, and Magnesium--

Essential for collagen development and blood vessel health;
superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of the most vital antioxidant
enzymes in the body.  The most important of these processes are
cellular respiration,  cellular utilization of oxygen, DNA and RNA
reproduction, maintenance of cell membrane integrity, and
sequestration of free radicals.

Balancing Minerals:

Minerals must be properly balanced.  For example, excess
dietary calcium or copper can result in a Zinc deficiency and
poor immunity.  Conversely zinc consumption in excess of
300 mg per day not only suppresses immunity but also
contributes to copper depletion and anemia.

Both the mineral profile and mineral balance of the Ningxia
wolfberry is without equal in the plant kingdom, with magnesium
to calcium ratios at almost 1:1, zinc to copper ratios at 2:1 and
potassium to magnesium rations at 8:1.

Potassium and Magnesium:

Wolfberries are also rich in potassium and magnesium.
A three-ounce serving of dried fruit contains nearly 1600
mg of potassium--which is quadruple the amount found in
3 oz. of fresh bananas, which is looked upon by many as a
high potassium food.

Potassium is the single most important mineral to human
health and longevity, being essential for normal electrolyte
and pH balance within the cell.  When excess sodium begins to
accumulate in conjunction with a potassium deficit, this can
result in hypertension (high blood pressure) and high blood
sugar, both of which can lead to lowered GABA production
and exert a dampening effect on the hypothalamus and
pituitary glands.  This can directly contribute to subnormal
growth hormone levels as we age.

Our potassium deficit becomes more lopsided as we grow
older and the kidneys become less and less able to effectively
retain potassium and excrete sodium from the body.  Researchers
have estimated kidney function declines by up to 75% between
age 30 and 80.

A multi-year longitudinal study on aging clearly demonstrated
that declining potassium levels are closely linked with signs of
aging.  Conducted over a period of nearly two decades, researchers
followed 650 subjects and found that between age 40 and 60,
potassium levels in the body dropped by over 13%.This decline
in potassium levels, coincides closely with the decline in
GABA and growth hormone levels, suggesting that declining
GABA, growth hormone, and potassium levels may be linked.
Increasing your intake of potassium can potential slow the age-
related decline of GABA and growth hormone,.  The Ningxia
wolfberry is the highest known, whole food source of whole
food potassium.

Triple the Vitamin C of Raw Orange

Just 100 grams of dried Ningxia wolfberries contain well over
double the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C (ascorbic
Acid).  The value of vitamin C for health has been well documented,
with extensive research documenting its antioxidant and immune-
enhancing properties..

There is a lot more info on the rest of the Nutrient that is in the
Ningxia wolfberry Like High Protein(Powerhouse), Arginine, Fiber
(the Staff of Life), More than Vitamin, Minerals, and Amino Acids,
Carotenoids(Beta Carotene), Zeaxanthin and Lutein, Beta-caryptoxanthin,
Polysaccharides (Anti-cancerous and immune-stimulating),Cerebrosides
and Pyrroles(protects the liver),Ellagic Acid and Polyphenols (Anti-cancer
and detoxifying properties).

One of toughest achievements in the development of  superfood is creating
a blend of juices that do not stimulate yeast and fungus overgrowth in the
gastrointestinal system.

So by combining proven antifungal agents such as pomegranate
with low-dextrose, low-glycemic, high-polysaccharides fruits such as
Ningxia wolfberry, raspberries, and blueberries, here is a juice blend
that would discourage the overgrowth of yeasts rather than promote them.
Can you imagine what this Drink can do for you??????

It has the ability to neutralize the super oxidized free radicals in the body.
They are the most aggressive of all free  radicals.  That causes the body to age and
disease to set in like cancer. By neutralizing the free radicals, our body will have the
ability to boost the immune system and increase energy.

Dr. Hill (Administrator of the Young Life Research Clinic In Utah),
states the "Wolfberry juice isn't a fruit drink; it is a super food.
Nutritionally, it is very sound.  It can have a great impact on
your system almost immediately.  What we are trying to encourage
people to do at the clinic is to change their lifestyles.  And change
is much easier when you can incorporate a product that not only
tastes good but also helps you change your lifestyle nutritionally.
I would strongly recommend the use of wolfberry juice to everyone!!!!

Because of the history behind the Ningxia wolfberry it is recognized
world wide..  It nourish the yin, supports the blood, helps support the
kidneys and liver, strengthens the eyes, fortify the muscles and bones,
enhance the "chi" or life force, and increases energy.  From of the history
of Ningxia wolfberry, it will be lot easier to market internationally
because everyone knows the story behind the Ningxia wolfberry.

There are other species of wolfberries, but we are the only company
in United States that buys the Ningxia wolfberries. Other species have
low antioxidants, Ningxia wolfberries has the highest.

Ningxia Red. Get this.... the benefits of out of just drinking 1 oz. of

4lbs carrots, 8 oranges, 2qts of carrot juice, 1 pint of orange juice,  2lbs
of raw beets, 2 cups of beet juice, 3 cups of blueberries, and 2 cups of
raspberries.

What could be better than that?!?!?
ONE OUNCE OF NINGXIA RED EQUALS ALL OF THAT COMBINED
FOR ANTIOXIDANT POWER!!!!!!!!

This is one why I recommend NingXia  Red to everyone.

Have a great day beginning with an oz. of NingXia Red.
