What is Gemmotherapy?
Gemmotherapy is a drainage system
developed in Europe over 30 years ago. Preliminary research
on using plant buds therapeutically was started by Dr. Pol
Henry of Belgium in the 1950s. Max Tetau, MD, after extensive
clinical research on immature plant materials, introduced
the therapeutic technique known as Gemmotherapy in 1971.
The buds or young shoots of the
immature plants are macerated and extracted with glycerin
for 21 days then made into a1X potency. These extracts are
high in growth factors, which contain the phyto-hormones,
auxins and gibberellins. These active ingredients are presents
in the buds, but begin to disappear as the plant matures.
Auxins have a fetal hormonal action, which is found only
in the buds of plants. Gibberellins stimulate RNA and protein
synthesis. They are also only present in the buds and not
in the whole plant. Researchers have found that by utilizing
this process releases the greatest amount of healing potential
from the plants.
There are 60 plants utilized in
the system of Gemmotherapy I use from Dolisos. Each of these
plant extracts has very specific actions on any living organism.
The main principle behind Gemmotherapy
is drainage and detoxification of the organism at its cellular
level. By accomplishing this process, only then can the
body truly heal itself. Drainage in our patients have changed
since the times of Hahnemann, Kent or Hering's times Hormones,
vaccinations, drugs and petrochemicals are rampant in our
society as compared to Hahnemann, Kent and Hering's time.
The toxins that are a product of our environment and our
own metabolic processes can block replication of cells.
Without these cell replications, we have organ failure,
which is the disease process we see in our practices.
Dr. Max Tetau states: "When
an emunctory of the organism, that is an excretory system
such as the kidneys, the liver, etc., is inadequate or blocked,
when a glandular or tissulary system is deficient, when
a well individualized treatment conforming to the simillimum
of the patient does not give the hopeful results, but on
the contrary presents aggravations or the appearance of
new troubles, it is necessary to stimulate the organs of
elimination by means of medications whose organic tropism
or physiological affinities are known... page 41.
How does Dr. Blake use Gemmotherapy for his patients?
I have utilized classical
homeopathy, acupuncture, glandular therapy, nutrition, aromatherapy
and Bach flowers for nearly 20 years. Many times the cases
were not progressing and no matter what I tried, there was
a factor none of my modalities could remedy. It wasn't until
I discovered Gemmotherapy that I was able to help these
other wise incurables. By no means am I suggesting this
system is a cure all because there is no such animal that
I have discovered in 30 years of looking. I am sharing with
you another tool that can complement any modality you are
presently utilizing including conventional modalities of
surgery and pharmaceuticals.
After evaluating each patient individually
and assessing where their toxic state is present, I select
one to eight Gemmotherapies and have them administer them
1 to 4 times per day depending on their particular needs
and responses to treatment.
The beauty of this system is you
can start them on this program along with your other programs
and get a complementary effect. The chronic debilitated
cases should be started out slowly and make sure you inform
your client of the potential healing phases, which simply
put means worsening of the case before they get better.
I have found that by dosing between 1 and 5 drops 1 t 2
times per day will prevent this. If you have an ultra sensitive
patient, I would suggest mixing one drop in a half cup spring
water and giving one drop of this mixture once until you
are comfortable with the reaction. I then reduce the amount
of water and gradually increase the dose of the remedy until
I reach 5 drop per day with no adverse reaction. At this
point if there are no more symptoms of the original disease
state, I have them stop and go to a maintenance dose of
5 drops three days out of the month as a preventive aspect
of the program.
Which Gemmotherapies does Dr. Blake use in his practice?
For any spinal related disease,
I recommend Pinus Montana Buds (Pine): at a dose of
1 to 5 drops twice per day. This will strengthen and Detox
the spine and any small joint related problems.
For any joint related problems,
I.E., hip dysplasia, anterior cruciate ruptures, sprains/strains,
degenerative arthritis, cartilage damage, etc. I recommend
Ampelopsis Weitchii Buds (Wild Woodvine): at a same
dose as the Mountain pine.
For liver related problems, I recommend
Juniperus Communis Young Shoots (Juniper): . Young shoots
of juniper are active in marked hepatic insufficiency with
markedly disturbed laboratory tests. Juniper is the medication
for the very deficient liver in the phase of decompensation:
jaundice, various types of cirrhosis etc. I recommend
a dose of 1 to 5 drops once per day for 6 weeks and then
three days per month thereafter for prevention. If I have
a chronic hepatitis I continue them until all symptoms are
abated and then go to the 3 days per month prevention program.
For any neurological diseases, I recommend
Tilia tomentosa:)(Lime tree at a dose of 1 t 5 drop 1 t
4 times per day as needed. I have utilized this many times
in behavior conditions and found it to be very effective
in calming the nervous system so that the animal can act
instead of react. This will complement any form of seizure
therapy programs.
For cardiac related disease I recommend
Crataegus Oxyacantha Buds (Hawthorne) Excellent regulator
of cardiac movement, which is slow. Increases myocardial
tone, in particular in the left side of the heart. Has a
sedative effect on all pericardial pain. Indicated in cardiac
insufficiency and associated symptoms, cardiac spasms, tachycardias
and arrhythmia's as well as in pericardial pain. I dose
at 1 to 5 drops bid depending on the need of the patient.
I have been able to get cardiac patients off all medications
utilizing this particular Gemmotherapy.
All allergy conditions will benefit from the use of Ribes
Nigrum Buds (Blackcurrant): and Cecale cereale (Rye Grain)
I give Black Currant at a dose of 1 to 5 drops one to four
times per day as needed for itching or scratching. It helps
support the adrenal glands and has an anti-inflammatory
properties. I also use this topically on areas of inflammation
on the skin. Rye Grain is used for any chronic skin conditions
to help detox the skin and liver of patients with chronic
dermatitis conditions.
All Gastrointestinal related disease
will be helped by the use of Ficus Carica Buds (Fig). I
use it at a dose of 1 to 5 drops one to four times per day
as needed for diarrhea or vomiting. I have them give it
Fig Tree at feeding time or in food to detox and strengthening
the intestinal system.
For Diabetes I recommend the use
of Juglans regia (Euopean Walnut) at a dose of 1 to 5 drops
twice per day to help balance the blood sugars.
For any ear, nose and throat conditions,
I recommend the use of Rowan Tree at a dose of 1 to 5 drops
twice per day until the condition is resolved.
For any Nasal conditions I use Rosa canina
(Briar Rose) at a dose of 1 to 5 drops one to four times
per day as needed for sneezing, nasal congestion or discharge.
It detoxes the mucus membranes of the nasal passages and
sinuses.
For weakness of limbs, urinary
or fecal incontinence, prostatis and or lethargy I have
found Sequoia Gigantea Buds (Sequoia): to be excellent
for treating these conditions. I dose at 1 to 5 drops one
to four times per day as needed.
Hypo or Hyperthyroidism is helped
by the use of Cornus Sanguinea (Bloodtwig Dogberry)at a
dose of 1 to 5 drops twice per day. This particular gemmotherapy
helps to detox and strengthen the thyroid gland.
Vaccinum vitus (Wine Berry)
is excellent for helping to balancing hormones. I found
this to be excellent in spayed animals where they have gained
weight after surgery. In these case in spite of dieting,
the still gain weight. I dose them at 1 to 5 drops of Wine
Berry twice per day until they are stable and then as needed
to maintain their metabolism. I have found that this particular
gemmotherapy can brings back the youth of the animal before
it was spayed. I use this with Black Currant and Giant Redwood
as a general tonic for my older make and female patients.
Quercus Pedonculata (European
oak) is excellent for restoring vitality to male animals.
I use this at a dose of 1 to 5 drops twice per day. I normally
use this in combination with Black Currant and Giant Redwood
for my older patients to help build up the puppy in them.
Carpinus Betulus Buds (Hornbeam):
Active in the rhinopharynx and trachea, ensuring healing
of damage mucosal surfaces and relieving spasm. Indicated
for spasmodic and chronic rhinopharyngitis, tracheitis and
tracheo-bronchitis. Is antitussive. I use this at a dose
of 1 to 5 drops one to four times as needed for coughing.
I also use Vibrum Lantana (Lithy Tree) for any respiratory
disease at the same dose as the Hornbeam.
Tamaris Gallica Buds (Tamarisk):
Active on the red cell series, stimulating erythrocyte formation.
Indicated in hypochromic anaemia. I use this at a dose of
1 to 5 drops twice per day until anaemia is corrected and
then as needed thereafter.
Rosmarinus Officinalis Buds (Rosemary):
Action particularly specifically orientated towards the
gall bladder. An excellent anti-spasmodic which regularises
gall bladder motility. Indicated in minor hepatic insufficiency,
biliary dyskinesia with hyper- or hypotonia, biliary colic
and chronic cholecystitis. I dose at 1 to 5 drops twice
per day until condition is resolved and then once weekly
thereafter.
Vitis Vinifera Buds (Grape vine):
Indicated in very painful deforming rheumatism and in arthritis
affecting the small joints. I recommend 1 to 5 drops one
to four times per day as needed for arthritic pain.
Fagus Sylvatica Buds (Beech): Stimulates
renal function and urine output. Indicated in renal lithiasis,
renal insufficiency and in obesity due to water retention.
1 to 5 drops twice per day until condition is resolved and
then as needed thereafter.
Rubus Idaeus Buds (Raspberry cane):
Has an inhibiting effect on the anterior lobe of the pituitary
and in particular regularises ovarian secretion. Indicated
in syndromes with hyperfolliculinism and in dysmenorrhoea.
I dose at 1 to 5 drops twice per day until the female problems
are resolved and then weekly thereafter as a maintenance.
