A story about a very brave Dog, named
Tiger!
by
Dr. Stephen Blake
The
picture I have shown here, is how TIger felt about going
to see veterinarians. His owner had warned me he wasn't
enamored with vets but that she thought he would do fine with
me at my home office. When she called me, she confided in me,
she had been told he only had a few weeks left according to
the veterinarian she had taken him to be examined by. He was
unable to walk and was urinary incontinent.
I
listened to her heart felt story, about a dear friend, who had
seen her through some difficult times and now she was feeling
hopeless about their future together. As I listened to her sad
words, I felt that this 13 year old German shepherd was given
the name Tiger for a reason. If we can give him a chance
to heal, the Tiger in him would reveal itself and he would
have more time to share with his dear friend.
They had
to hire a driver to bring him to my home office because
they needed help to get him out of the car. It was a beautiful
day, sun shining brightly, 75 degrees and fall in the air,
when my new friend, Tiger arrived.
It
saddened me to see this once powerful, Tiger in a dog suit,
struggling to stay erect with all of his family supporting
him. With help he dragged himself up the walk and into my
office. I felt the frustration and sadness in his condition
but at the same time, I saw the fierce determination in his
eyes. When he looked at me, I knew he was not going to give
up, without a heck of a fight.
I
greeted the owner, her mother and her brother, who all came to
be with him, in his time of need. The sadness in their eyes,
brought a heavy feeling in my heart. Tiger was showing me with
his eyes, that he wanted them to be positive about him getting
better and my job was to help that wish come
true.
He was
exhibiting a condition, which is medically described as,
degenerative myelopathy. Basically the animal becomes
progressively paralyzed from the hind limbs forward, until
they are completely paralyzed, and have to be euthanized. They
had already been given the death sentence for their long time
friend, and were looking for a miracle to save
Tiger.
As I ran
my hands over the shell of what he had once been, I
sensed a tremendous inner strength emanate from his spine
as I gently massaged him. He made sure we all saw his will to
live and that the other veterinarian, was wrong in assuming it
was time to euthanize him.
I did
what I could to help him and sent him on his way with his
homeopathic, Gemmotherapy, Essential oils and nutritional
support. As he was being loaded back into the hired car, he
looked back at me and barked as loud as he could. My feeling
was not of good by, but "I will be back." The sad expressions
on his family's faces, had been replaced by smiles of hope. I
said a silent prayer for my new friend and wished him well on
the next part of his eternal journey.
Some
days later, I heard a voice on my answering machine, which
sounded very panicked. I immediately called and spoke with
Tiger's Mom. She was ecstatic. He had shown marked improvement
and they felt encouraged that he was back and on his way to
getting better. As I was listening to her hopeful words, I was
over whelmed with joy and gratitude. After hanging up, I
prayed that his reprieve from the grim reaper, was not to be
short lived.
Time
passed and Tiger held his own. He fought with all his heart to
make his time with his family the best he could. They cared
for him in every way and his quality of life was the best
they all could make it.
Over a
year had passed since we first met, and the call I had hoped
would never come arrived. It was late one evening and a
menacing peeping sounded on my message center. I cautiously
activated the message and heard the sad voice of Tiger's Mom
talking to me. He had taken a turn for the worse and they felt
it was time to put him down. Tears came to my eyes as I
thought of the Tiger, who had barked so bravely a year before,
lying paralyzes on his side, unable to rise. Barking out of
frustration because he could not even lift his head. I felt
his suffering and understood his fear of not being able to
protect his family or himself.
I called
his Mom and we talked for some time, before I finally told her
that if he did not respond to my next treatment, it was his
way of saying it was time to cross the rain bow bridge.
She was very sad to hear these words, as I was delivering
them.
I worked
on his case for some time and came to the conclusion that the
Rabies vaccine, he had been given 4 years before, was the
probable trigger for his demise. I researched Thuja, and it
fit his case at that time perfectly. I sent home the treatment
that same day, and instructed the family to put off
the euthanasia for three days, to see what Tiger could do. I
said a healing prayer for him and told his Mom to think good
thoughts, no matter what.
She had
already scheduled a home euthanasia veterinarian to come put
him down three days after we spoke. I had told her to
keep the appointment open, until we heard from Tiger.
The call
came the next day. I held my breath and finally turned on
the message center, to hear what the fate of my dear friend
would be. The voice on the message, was that of joy. He had
responded to the treatment over night and was able to raise
his head high, like the Tiger he was. Her tears of joy filled
the room and my heart soared with knowing that my buddy was on
his way back.
Needless
to say, they immediately called the euthanasia veterinarian
and canceled the dreaded appointment. I know in my heart that
Tiger is back guarding his family with the pride of a Tiger,
the Tiger in the dog suit.
Never
give up, that is Tiger's lesson to us all.

Why Dogs Don't Live Longer Than
People
......Sent to Dr. Blake by one of his
clients to share with his readers..
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a
ten-year- old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners,
Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all
very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a
miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told
the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered
to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their
home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they
thought it would be good for the four-year-old Shane to
observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn
something from the experience. The next day, I felt the
familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded
him.
Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last
time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The
little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any
difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after
Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal
lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been
listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth
next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting
explanation. He said, "People are born so that they can learn
how to live a good life --like loving everybody all the time
and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well,
dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay
as long."
Live simply. Love generously. Care
deeply. Speak kindly.
Opie
A special a little 10 month old terrier named Opie came to
me with a very sad story. He was a perfectly normal spunky
little guy who loved to run and play. He had his puppy shots
and seemed fine until December of last year. Suddenly his
tongue began to hang out of the side of his mouth. He seemed
fine in every other way. In February of this year he started
to become paralyzed in his hind legs. He went to his
veterinarian who x-rayed him and made a tentative diagnosis of
a congenital defect in is lower spine. He vaccinated him for
DHLPPCB and said cortisone was the only thing he could
suggest. He added that if he were his dog he would not give
the cortisone. He said there was nothing that could be done
for him. He then developed an egg sized mass on the left side
of his neck and continued to get weaker and weaker in his rear
legs. He then had Advantage applied in June and began to have
trouble chewing.
When I saw him staggering up my walk way, my heart broke.
His tongue was hanging out of his mouth and he could barely
stay on his feet as he swaggered up the walk. He was very
frightened and I could tell he was wondering what this new guy
was going to do to him.
I gave him some Rescue remedy, Frankincense massage, Lime
tree Gemmotherapy orally for detoxing the nervous system and
helping to heal damaged nerve tissue Gemmotherapy for
drainage and detoxification. He stumbled around and tried to
hide under his caregivers chair. I continued taking his case
and suddenly his rear legs began to spasm and tremble
uncontrollably. He was very calm about it but his care giver
was very distressed. I explained to her that healing crisis
are common when using energetic medicine. It is very unusual
for a patient to react this quickly, 20 minutes into
treatment. It lasted about 10 minutes and then stopped. He got
back on his feet and hit under his aunt's chair, where he
could keep an eye on me.
We were 1 1/2 hours into the intake when Marsha, his aunt
whispered to me, look at Opie. I was so into entering the case
into my computer, I hadn't noticed what Mr. O was up to. When
I looked up, I was not prepared for what I saw.
His tongue was back in his mouth and he was standing
straight and tall. He looked at me, cocked his head to one
side and said "check this out!" I was amazed to see a symptom
that had been there 24/7 disappear after 7 months. He the
proceeded to strut out from under the chair, walk over to the
stoup and jumped to the ground without falling down. Miracle
said his Mom. I was lost for words.
He still was unsteady but he was so much better by the end
of the visit. He led his Mom and aunt down the walk. Head held
high, swaggering along, tongue in his mouth and then he
turned back to look at me. I swore he winked at me and then
lifted his leg on one of my plants and urinated on it. Typical
terrier! I couldn't help but laugh and give him a thumbs
up.
I treated him with Lime Tree Gemmotherapy for drainage and
detoxification, Colostrum, Thuja 30C (one dose) , Berry Young
juice, Animal Essentials d Catalyn, Common Juniper
Gemmotherapy for drainage and detoxification for liver
drainage. My diagnosis was vaccinosis, which is any condition
secondary to a disease state after vaccination.
Seeing Opie put up such a brave fight is an inspiration to
me and shows me that my favorite quote is his also. "The
person who says it cannot be done, should not interrupt the
person doing it."
I saw Opie four months later on October 25, 2002 and it
made my heart sore to see him walking up my side walk. His
tongue was in his mouth and he was strutting around showing
his stuff. All two pounds of him ;O)
His caregivers told me that he had continued to gradually
start walking again after his first treatment and in July. He
was now not afraid of the other dogs because he was feeling
better about himself. He was lifting his leg like all the
other male dogs and proud of it. His tongue was staying in 80%
of the time as compared to never for 10 months before we
started his treatment.
When I picked him up he was a little afraid but definitely
braver than our first visit. After I rubbed him down with some
Release (a blend of essential oils for releasing cellular
emotional or physical trauma) he gave me a kiss. It was
so cute and rewarding to see how much he had progressed over
the past few months.
My treatment consisted of a dose of homeopathic Silica CM
and to continue him on the supplements in my first article
dated July. Nerve cells are the slowest cells in the body to
heal. We do not know how much of the vaccine damaged brain
will regenerate but at least at this time he no longer
paralyzed and is gradually getting stronger with the passing
of each day.
His mom was very excited with his progress and told me all
of her friends comment on how much better Big Opie is doing.
After our visit ended, Opie strutted down the side walk
with his Mom and acupuncturist friend following right behind
him. Just as I was about to go into my home I saw him look
back and hike his leg on one of my bushes. I knew he was
saying "Check this out Doc, not bad for a paralyzed dog
;O)"
To be continued. ;O)
My Best
Friend
By Steve Blake
There once was a
time,
No dog in my
home.
My old friend
Elmo,
Had come and
gone.
His memory was always with
me,
But I longed for a
dog,
Just like
him.
The days went to
weeks,
The months to
years.
Then one glorious
day,
Louie
appeared.
On the
Internet,
He looked back at me and
said,
Come and get me, so I
did.
Cute as a
button,
All two pounds of
fluff.
A heart of a lion,
A wet nose to
kiss.
He took my
heart,
And left eternal paw prints all over
it.
It is with each breath he
takes,
That makes my
day,
no
mistake.
He is my guide, my
teacher,
And my
friend.
Not a day goes
by,
He doesn't
say,
I am yours in every
way.
No
judgment,
No criticism comes from
him,
Only love and kisses make his
day.
I know in my heart,
When I live in the moment each and
every day,
Like Louie my
friend.
I will surely
be,
In Heaven
again.
Never a day goes
by,
That Louie isn't.
My best friend.
Dr. Blake,
Sofia's vaccine
story.
I
have a 5 and a 1/2 month old little girl who is the joy of my
life. Even before she was born my husband and I did a lot of
research on vaccines. We feel we are personally responsible
for our daughter and want to do what is right for her as long
as we are her parents.
So as many
parents have come to learn vaccines aren't all they are
cracked up to. I had looked over all the scheduled vaccines
and only agreed to give the DTaP beginning at 3 months of age
because of the concern with the Pertussis being so dangerous.
Shortly after we
had given her the vaccine she began to have what looked like
tremors throughout her body. They didn't last long, but you
could see it and feel it and friends were beginning to ask me
"what is that?".
Of course I
was concerned and began to worry about all the possibilities
and came to find out through Dr. Blake that this was most
likely a response to the DTaP vaccine and it was a warning
sign that her body didn't like it. He recommended a
homeopathic remedy that would flush out the vaccine and should
stop the tremors.
It took 3 days of
the remedy and I have not seen another tremor and of course
she has not had any further vaccines. I say this to encourage
parents to make an educated decision for your child. Luckily I
am able to stay at home with my little girl and she is still
breastfed so that reduces her risk of disease in the first
place, although I see no need in feeding drug companies hungry
bellies by drugging my daughter with so many vaccines.
